Northern Corridor Member States to establish a Regional Logistics Hub within Naivasha Special Economic Zone
During its 58th Session held in January 2025, the Northern Corridor Executive Committee directed the Northern Corridor Secretariat to embark on activities towards the development of a Regional Logistics Hub within the Naivasha Special Economic Zone on a 50 acres of land parcel granted to all Northern Corridor Member States by the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
After endorsing and approving the MoU signed in November 2024 by the Member States, the Northern Corridor Executive Committee approved an initial budget for the preparation of feasibility studies and directed the Secretariat to promote the logistics hub as a regional project and prepare terms of reference for hiring a consultant to carry out the studies and conduct engineering design.

Towards this end, from 18th to 20th February 2025, Technical Experts representatives of all the Northern Corridor Member States, especially from public sector institutions and the Northern Corridor Secretariat will gather in Nairobi, Kenya, to develop the Terms of Reference for feasibility studies and engineering designs and call for expression of interest for the Naivasha Regional Logistics Hub project.
The Regional facility to be developed under the auspices of the Northern Corridor Special Economic Zones programme with participation from both public and private sector as well as Development Partners would help evacuate and consolidate cargo destined to each of the hinterland countries and make it easier, cheaper, more cost effective and efficient to move goods from the Port of Mombasa.
